WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF EGERTON CANUTE BASKETBALL CLUB!
Stop Press - Egerton Canute Juniors Join Cheshire East Development League
After several years in the making the Cheshire East development League finally gets underway in anger. Commencing 7th February teams from Egerton Canute Juniors will be competing at U-18 and U1-14 levelk in a development league put together by like minded clubs including Congleton, High Peak and Holmes Chapel (all MABL Senior Clubs) together with newly formed clubs in the Cheshire East region.
Players from the youth squads will gain competitive experience on a bi-weekly basis with some fixtures to be held at the Canute home base of the Egerton Youth Club. More details of the league will follow. Look out for match reports and photos soon.
After 2 years of fundraising the new backboards are at last in place at Egerton to enable full court training to finally take place. New floor markings were also finally completed 02-12-09. Now we are really in business at Egerton.
Holiday Hoopfest U-18 and U-16 tournament was held at @Egerton Sunday 6th December. 11 teams competed in this tournament with Poynton leading the way with some excellent performances. A pre-cursor to the new Cheshire East Development League this was a great showcase for basketball in Cheshire. Thanks to Keith Rogers and Chris Donnely for getting the ball rolling.
Week 10 Canute 71- Cardinal Langley 48. Takes Canute II to 8-2 for the season. Report to follow.
Week 9 West Leigh 49 - Canute 72 a storming 30-9 4th quarter saw Canute II overcome stubborn West Ligh resistance to take the victory. Leading 37-30 a 9-0 West leigh run saw canute give advantage to a spirited West leigh side. However running a full squad of 12 players for the first time this season saw canute enter the 4th quarter with batteries fully charged and no individual player in foul trouble. Excellent defensive from front court pairing of Brian Ross and Ivan Robles saw a number of points rackjed up from steal and fast breaks. Captain Phil Rickett who lead the team in steals on the night also weighed in with some easy two's. Overall it was a full team contribution which boosted the squad confidence for the reaminder of the season.

Egerton Canute Basketball Club provides opportunities for senior basketball and junior basketball from its base in Knutsford, Cheshire. In 2008 Egerton Canute Basketball celebrated its 21st year of existance with 2 senior teams competing in the
Manchester Area Basketball League (MABL). The club also has a junior basketball development program allied to the Big Storage Cheshire Jets BBL Club and the Egerton Youth Club in Knutsford.
New players of all ages and abilities are always welcome. The youth club has an inclusive policy which the basketball club fully supports.
With building work ongoing at Egerton Youth Club at present it is still uncertain whether the club will be able to repeat last years successful fundraising quiz night. We should have news soon on whether 50 years of the Preston Bypass will be able to defend their crown. Thanks to all who supported last years event. Check out the
events page for highlights.
