CANUTE RECRUIT FOR 2011/2012 SEASON. NEW PLAYERS FOR BOTH SENIOR TEAMS AND FOR JUNIOR TEAMS AT YEARS 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12. COME ALONG TO A TRAINING SESSION OR GET IN TOUCH VIA THE CONTACT PAGE.
The club provides opportunities for both senior basketball and junior basketball from its base in Knutsford, Cheshire.
The junior basketball development program is allied to the Cheshire Jets BBL Club and the Egerton Youth Club in Knutsford and competes in the Cheshire East Basketball Development League. Players from the Junior Squads can also progress to competition at National League Level via the
Cheshire Jets National League program.
Egerton Canute Basketball Club has recently been awarded England Basketball Accreditation at Level 2 and is working towards level 3 with the addition of new coaches, referees and table officials high of the clubs development agenda.
New players, coaches, officials and volunteers of all ages and abilities are always welcome at both junior and senior levels. The youth club has an inclusive policy which the basketball club fully supports.
U-12s in historic win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The U-12s recently took part in a match at Kings School Macclesfield against a combined Kings/Congleton/Northwich team and emerged as winners by the score of 109-2. This is a record for all Egerton Canute Teams during the 23 year history of the club. Every one of the 10 players scored with Alex Wright leading the way and Alex Price, Danae Johnson and Michael Robinson close behind. Congratulations to all.

Hoopfest Success for Egerton Juniors
Congratulations to Egerton Juniors including Charles Malapitan, Ben Goodacre, Micheal Page, Richard Page and brothers Jonas Robles, Keanu Robles and Ivan Robles who were all winners at the Second Annual Cheshire East Hoopfest held at Holmes Chapel, Leisure Centre on 12th December. Fundraising at Sainsbury's Altrincham raises £300
Full details on fundraising page. Thanks entirely due to the clans Robles and Malapitan with a little help from Alex Price and Richard Page we raised £300 from the bag packing activities this Saturday. Big thanks to Rob for organising this and to Mitch and John for supporting also. As Alex, Jonus ansd Chester had just competed in two U-13 national league defeats they did fantastically well to keep smiling. In addition Charles had spent three hours packing in the morning and came back for more in the afternoon. Here's to phase 2 at a sainsbury's, tesco, waitrose, M&S, asda neer you. Anyone who couldn't support this weekend but would be prepared to help at similar events in the future please let Rob know. This gets us about 20% of our target for the year to support the purchase of an electronic scoreboard and support many other club activities.
Coach Price Nominated for Cheshire East Coach of the Year at Cheshire East 2010 Sports Awards
Cheshire East Council Sport & Play Development Team in partnership with the Cheshire East School Sports Partnerships held its annual award ceremony on the 18th October 2010 at Congleton Town Hall to recognise people’s contribution to local sport.
People from across the area were invited to nominate people from within their club and community in various categories to recognise their contribution to local sport.
Egerton Canute Head Coach David Price was nominated in the category of Coach of the Year.
The evening was hosted by Mike Shaft, BBC Manchester presenter and British Basketball announcer. Everyone was welcomed and thanked for their efforts by Health and Wellbeing Portfolio Holder Councillor Andrew Knowles and the Worshipful Mayor of Cheshire East Council.
Guest Speaker and also an award winner on the night was Sarah Storey Great Britain's most decorated female paralympian who has won titles in both Swimming and Cycling and had recently returned from Delhi competing and finishing 6th in the able bodied Cycling. Sarah has been awarded both an MBE and an OBE and throughout her career has broken 70 world records.
Whilst Dave didn't win the overall award he is proud that the achievements of the Egerton club during 2009/10 and in particular the success of the junior members of the club have contributed so much to the nomination. The achievements of the other nominations during the evening whether it be volunteers, young athletes, disabled athletes and high achieving clubs was an inspiration to all who attended.

NEW to coaches corner!!. Check out the embedded videos on the coaches corner webpage. Phase 1 some individual skills from the Nike Skills Academy. Phase 2 will see the addition of some guidance on strength and agility training. Third phase will see the addition of team offensive and defensive principles.
Egerton Jets U-12 in first ever fixtures Sunday March 21st 2010 - Well done to the two Egerton Jets Junior teams who took part in the U-12 tournament in Macclesfield. Some good wins on the day and a narrow loss in the final was a great way to start.
Senior Training now on Tuesdays 8:00-10:00 Egerton Youth Club
To improve the focus of both U-18 sessions and Senior Training the U-18 will now train on Wednesdays 8:00-10:00 with Seniors taking a new slot on Tuesdays at 8:00-100:00. Both sessions held at Egerton Youth Club.
After several years in the making the Cheshire East development League is finally underway. Games have been held each weekend commencing 7th February. Teams including Egerton Junior Jets are competing at U-18 and U1-14 level in a development league put together by like minded clubs including Poynton, Congleton, High Peak and Holmes Chapel (all MABL Senior Clubs) together with newly formed clubs in the Cheshire East region.
Players from the youth squads are gaining competitive experience on a bi-weekly basis with some fixtures to be held at the Canute home base of the Egerton Youth Club, some at Holmes Chapel and some at Knutsford leisure Centre.
After 2 years of fundraising the new backboards are at last in place at Egerton to enable full court training to finally take place. New floor markings were also finally completed 02-12-09. Now we are really in business at Egerton.
Holiday Hoopfest U-18 and U-16 tournament was held at @Egerton Sunday 6th December. 11 teams competed in this tournament with Poynton leading the way with some excellent performances. A pre-cursor to the new Cheshire East Development League this was a great showcase for basketball in Cheshire. Thanks to Keith Rogers and Chris Donnely for getting the ball rolling.
