Canute 1 have had a good January and gone 3 and 1, beating Burnley and MMU in the process. The addition of Tim supplementing the squad from the second team and the return of Stuart Hindle have been key, providing more experience and allowing the team to rotate the guards. Match reports to follow.
Match Report, Canute 1 72 Trafford 58
Canute 1 put out their strongest team so far this season against Trafford, 9 players including the addition for two experienced guards to strengthen their young and energetic back court. In previous weeks they have played with between 5 and 7 players and have run out of steam or had foul trouble in the second half of games.
Trafford started well hitting outside shots and scoring easy points inside to take a deserved 29-15 lead after the 1st quarter. Canute stepped up their defence and started scoring to win the next 2 quarters and leave the game finely balanced going into the final quarter.
Canute dominated the final quarter, rotating fresh players to finish strongly and win the game 72-58.
This was the first win of the season and a great way to start the new year, if they remain at full strength and play to their potential more games will be won in the second half of the season.
